Land Rover recently launched the much-awaited Defender Octa SUV through its luxury brand Tata Motors. This new variant in the Defender series is built for high performance and is priced at Rs 2.65 crore before taxes in India. They will also introduce a special edition called the Defender Octa Edition One, which will only be available during the first year of production and is priced at around Rs 2.85 crore.
Bookings for the SUV will open soon, although the exact dates are yet to be revealed. The Defender Octa will make its debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will take place from July 11-14, where it will be unveiled to the public for the first time.
Land Rover Defender Octa: Powertrain
The new Land Rover Defender Octa takes the capability of the Defender 110 to new heights. It features a robust 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged mild hybrid V8 engine, making it the most powerful Defender car ever. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with high and low-range gears, this engine can produce 626 bhp of power and 750 Nm of torque. This setup is capable of accelerating the SUV from 0 to 100 mph in just four seconds.

2025 Land Rover Defender OCTA Power
The Defender 110 OCTA and OCTA First Edition feature a powerful 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine sourced from BMW that produces 626 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque (or up to 590 lb-ft with launch control). The OCTA is the most powerful Defender ever, paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with various driving modes. Standard Defender 110 V-8 models deliver 518 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque. The new OCTA model accelerates from 0-60 mph in approximately 3.8 seconds on the road, with a top speed limited to 155 mph.
