The latest update to the M2 focuses on increasing its power by 20 horsepower overall. The upgraded 3.0-liter six-cylinder twin-turbo gasoline engine now delivers 480 horsepower at 6,250 rpm. It accelerates to 7,200 rpm and produces a maximum torque of 550 Nm between 2,650 rpm and 6,130 rpm with a manual transmission or 600 Nm with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission.
To make the most of the increased power, BMW has slightly updated the accelerator response in all driving modes accessible through the M setup menu. This means that the new BMW M2 now reacts faster when you want to accelerate.
With the standard transmission, the new M2 can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.0 seconds, or 4.2 seconds with a manual gearbox. It has a top speed of 250 km/h, which can be increased to 285 km/h (177 mph) if the optional M Driver’s Package is selected.
